Cape Hedo, located at the northernmost tip of Okinawa’s main island, is a breathtaking scenic spot characterised by its dramatic cliffs. From here, visitors can gaze upon Yoron Island in Kagoshima Prefecture, which appears distinctly on clear days.  The area surrounding the cape features rugged limestone formations, shaped over time by the relentless waves of the East China Sea. Each time the waves crash against the rocks, white sprays of water rise into the air, creating a powerful and awe-inspiring natural spectacle.​​​​ Beyond its stunning scenery, Cape Hedo holds deep historical significance for Okinawa. After WWII, Okinawa was placed under American administration and remained separated from mainland Japan. During that period, many Okinawans visited Cape Hedo, looking northward with the hope of reuniting with their homeland.
