These blossoms, known as yaezakura, feature ten or more overlapping petals and bloom later than the pale Somei‑Yoshino, marking the graceful finale of spring. From February through April, around one hundred cherry trees representing some twenty varieties bloom in succession throughout the grounds. By early to mid‑April, the double‑flowered varieties—such as the elegant Yaebenishidare —reach their peak.
