6th April 2025: Sakura Macro Photos in Yotsuya

Image
One of the park’s biggest attractions is its cherry blossoms, especially the Somei Yoshino variety, which bloom in the spring. Sotobori Park is a well-known spot for hanami (flower viewing), drawing many visitors during the season. The stretch of cherry trees from Ichigaya to Yotsuya is especially famous and highly recommended for photography. Doing a photo shoot around Sotobori Park near Yotsuya Station using a macro lens. The cherry blossoms were mainly Somei Yoshino, and although the wind was a bit strong—making macro photography quite a challenge—the clear blue skies made for a truly enjoyable experience. 22nd Mar 2025: Full bloom cherry blossoms in the UK

Image
Just before leaving the UK, I captured the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Although I had always associated cherry blossoms strongly with Japan, I found that those in the UK are equally beautiful and graceful. I hope that one day I will have the chance to see these blossoms in full bloom again. 22nd Apr 2023: Cherry blossoms in London.

Image
During my first spring after moving to London, I was captivated by the beautiful cherry blossoms blooming in front of the church near my home. Spring in London is a season when cherry blossoms bring vibrant color to the city.  The peak viewing period is from mid-March to late April, though some varieties can be enjoyed until early May. You’ll find delicate blossoms reminiscent of Japan’s Somei Yoshino as well as lush, layered petals like those of Yaezakura, creating a rich and varied display over several weeks. Unlike Japan’s traditional hanami culture, the common way to appreciate cherry blossoms here is through quiet walks. The sight of these blossoms harmonizing with historic architecture and verdant parks offers rare moments of serenity in the heart of the city. In springtime London, even a simple stroll through the neighborhood can lift your spirits and make the day feel brighter.
