I was married at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Aina Haina, on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. These photographs were taken three years later, when I visited the church again.

This historic church traces its origins to 1949, when the first Episcopal service was held in the office of the former Hind-Clarke Dairy. In those early days, the congregation affectionately referred to it as “St. Mary in the Dairy” because of its unique beginnings.

The present site was donated by the Hind family, and the main sanctuary—dedicated in 1954—received a national architectural award for its simple yet elegant design. Its lava rock walls, wide openings, and side doors that open to lush gardens create an atmosphere full of warmth and the open-air feeling so characteristic of Hawaii.

Since its founding, the church has grown together with the community, supporting local residents through its school and various community activities. Whenever I return to Oahu, I am determined to visit and greet this beloved church again.
