Unexpected Visitors: Peacocks in Los Angeles - 22nd Feb 2008

When I lived in Los Angeles, peacocks would often visit our neighborhood. 
The city intentionally released peacocks in the area to control the population of rattlesnakes, so it was completely normal to see them in gardens and on the streets. Until then, I had only ever seen peacocks in zoos, so I was truly astonished when I first encountered one in person.

Even our cat stood no chance against them—she would be sunbathing peacefully, but the moment a peacock appeared, she would hurriedly retreat into the house. 

I wonder if the peacocks are still around today.

There’s a Starbucks in Rancho Palos Verdes (Los Angeles, CA) that I will never forget. Nestled right in front of the vast Pacific Ocean, it offers a breathtaking view that makes every sip of coffee feel like a moment of peace.  What made it truly special were the evenings—watching the sun slowly sink into the horizon, painting the ocean in shades of crimson and gold. I remember sitting there, completely immersed in the beauty, feeling time gently slow down. It’s been nearly twenty years since that visit, but the memory remains vivid in my heart. Among all the Starbucks I’ve ever been to, this one stands above the rest. Mimosa Square: Cherry Blossoms and a Special Spring Memory w Nikon D850 - 29th Mar 2026

/Home › › Mimosa Square in Johoku Chuo Park Mimosa Square in Johoku Chuo Park is one of the most popular spots in the area, known for its particularly high concentration of cherry trees.  When the blossoms reach full bloom, the entire square is enveloped in a soft pink hue, creating a breathtaking scene. Families and picnickers gather here, making it a beloved place where people in Nerima can easily enjoy the arrival of spring. Although many things happened along the way, our daughter successfully graduated from elementary school last week. To commemorate the occasion, I brought out my Nikon D750 and D850 for the first time in a while and photographed the day in earnest.  These photos were taken with the D850 .
