12th Oct 2011: The Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai China

While I was on a business trip in Shanghai, China, I unexpectedly had some free time and decided to take a walk around the city. Since I didn’t have my camera at the time, I purchased an Olympus VG-140 from a local camera shop on short notice.  The Oriental Pearl Tower, located in the Pudong district of Shanghai, China, is a striking television tower that stands 468 meters tall. Completed in 1994, it is renowned for its futuristic design, featuring a series of spheres inspired by a classical Chinese poem.  Inside the tower, visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions including observation decks, a revolving restaurant, a museum showcasing Shanghai’s urban history, and immersive VR experiences.  The observation areas are divided into three main levels: the upper sphere at 350 meters, the middle sphere at 263 meters, and the lower sphere at 90 meters.
