20th Feb 2013: The Most Breathtaking Sunset in My Life
Sunset with the Peugeot 205 CTi in Enoshima, Shonan
After three long years of infertility treatment, filled with emotional and financial uncertainty, my wife and I shed countless tears together, unsure of what the future would hold.
This photo was taken in a parking lot in Enoshima, right after we received a prenatal diagnosis at a nearby hospital. On that day, the doctor told us, “There are no problems.” For the first time, we were able to feel pure joy from the depths of our hearts.
With tears of happiness streaming down our faces, we captured this breathtaking sunset alongside my wife’s beloved car, the Peugeot 205 CTi.
This photograph preserves a moment I will never forget for the rest of my life — a memory more precious than words can express.
Time has flown by, and our daughter is now twelve years old.
Peugeot 205 CTi
This car came into our lives as part of my wife's "dowry"—she had cherished and driven it long before we were married. The Peugeot 205 CTi is the convertible version of the legendary 205 GTi, designed by Pininfarina. While inheriting the GTi’s sporty spirit, it features a 1.9-liter engine, a reinforced chassis, and a manually operated soft top.
Although slightly heavier than the GTi, it offered nimble handling and the exhilaration of open-air driving. Produced in limited numbers, it has become a rare and highly sought-after classic, admired for its raw driving feel and refined French design that continues to captivate enthusiasts to this day.
Over the course of 26 years, we lovingly maintained this car—replacing the engine and suspension, restoring interior trim, repairing the seats, and repainting the body. However, in March 2017, the brake master cylinder failed, and due to the difficulty of sourcing the necessary part, we were sadly forced to part with it.
For both my wife and me, it was a car filled with countless precious memories.
The photo below was taken just after its full restoration in 2011.
