15th May 2022: Sagrada Familia and Gaudi

Sagrada Familia
The Sagrada Família is a Catholic church in Barcelona, Spain, designed by Antoni Gaudí. Construction began in 1882, and Gaudí devoted most of his life to the project, though it has continued after his death. Known for its unique style, the church features organic designs inspired by nature. It boasts three façades and 18 towers, and although it remains unfinished, it is expected to be completed in the late 2020s. The Sagrada Família stands as a World Heritage site, representing Gaudí's architectural vision, and has become one of the most iconic landmarks for visitors.

Gaudi
Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926) was a Spanish architect renowned for his unique designs that fused natural forms with religious symbolism. In addition to his masterpieces such as the Sagrada Família and Park Güell, he created the apartment building Casa Batllo, which is a Barcelona residence remodeled between 1904 and 1906, celebrated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its undulating façade and vibrant mosaic decorations. Its roof, reminiscent of a dragon’s back, is said to symbolize the legend of Saint George, the patron saint of Catalonia.

When I visited, unfortunately, I only had my smartphone, so I couldn't take the photos I had expected for. However, even with just a smartphone, I was still able to fully appreciate the beauty of this remarkable structure. Once it's completed in the late 2020s, I definitely plan to visit again and capture more photos.
