Windsor Castle England: Famous Royal Palace Near London - 7th July 2022

Windsor Castle, situated approximately 35 kilometers west of London, is among the largest inhabited castles in the world. Its origins trace back to the 11th century, when William I established it as a fortress, and successive monarchs expanded and transformed it into a magnificent palace. St George’s Chapel, the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter, has long hosted royal ceremonies and weddings, most notably the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in recent years.

Following a major fire in 1992, the castle was carefully restored, and it continues to serve both as a royal residence and as a venue for official events and tourism.

When the Royal Standard is flown above the Round Tower, it signifies that the monarch is in residence. With a history spanning nearly a millennium,

Windsor Castle endures as a living symbol of the British monarchy.
