Rapeseed Flowers: A Colorful Japanese Spring - 12th April 2025

Taking a walk with my daughter's camera in search of another sign of spring. 
Beneath the cherry trees, bright yellow rapeseed flowers were blooming beautifully. Unlike cherry blossoms, these flowers have four petals and a vivid yellow hue. In Japan, they are also eaten as a seasonal vegetable and are often used in various spring dishes.

I used my daughter's 75–300mm lens (equivalent to 150–600mm in 35mm format). It was fun because I was able to take photos that looked like macro shots. If I may be a bit greedy, I do wish the camera had a few more megapixels...

Kappa Bridge, located in the heart of Kamikochi, is a wooden suspension bridge spanning the Azusa River and stands as one of the area's most iconic scenic spots. In June, Hibiya Park enters a particularly beautiful season, when it is adorned with a rich variety of flowers under the gentle, soft light characteristic of early summer. The first to catch the eye are the roses, with numerous varieties reaching their peak bloom mainly in the First Flower Garden. Their vibrant colors—red, pink, and white—along with their delightful fragrance, offer great enjoyment to visitors.
