Rancho Palos Verdes, located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in southern Los Angeles County, is an upscale coastal community known for its dramatic ocean views from the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. Incorporated as a city in 1973, it had a population of approximately 42,000 as of 2020. The area is celebrated for its nature preserves, scenic coastline, and well‑maintained hiking trails, offering a tranquil environment and a high standard of education.

Historically, the region thrived on ranching and agriculture from the late 19th to early 20th century. Japanese farmers, in particular, cultivated beans and tomatoes on the southern slopes. In 1913, banker Frank Vanderlip purchased the peninsula, paving the way for its development into an exclusive residential area.

Today, the city is characterized by strict zoning regulations that protect its natural beauty, and it is home to popular destinations such as the Trump National Golf Club. With its striking coastal vistas and serene residential atmosphere, Rancho Palos Verdes is regarded as one of the most appealing areas near Los Angeles.

If you follow Hawthorne Boulevard toward the tip of the peninsula, you’ll find a Starbucks with sweeping ocean views—enjoying a cup of coffee there was truly unforgettable.

    仕事の関係で、ここに5年ほど住んでいました。とても素敵な場所で、もう一度住んでみたい街の一つです。海は泳ぐには適さないのですが、高台からの景色は本当の最高でしたよ！

    I lived here for about five years because of my work, and it became one of the places I would love to live in again.
    It’s such a charming town. The sea isn’t really suitable for swimming, but the views from the hills were absolutely breathtaking.

There’s a Starbucks in Rancho Palos Verdes (Los Angeles, CA) that I will never forget.
