The Enchanting Yamayuri Lilies of Musashino Shinrin Park - 22nd July 2011
Located in Saitama Prefecture, Musashino Shinrin Koen National Government Park is famous for its Yamayuri (goldband lilies), a classic highlight of the summer season enjoyed alongside the park's rich natural surroundings.
Home to roughly 10,000 naturally growing Yamayuri within its vast deciduous forests, the park is known as one of the premier spots in the Kanto region to see these flowers in the wild.
Often referred to as the "Queen of Lilies," the Yamayuri is characterized by its large, striking blossoms featuring white petals accented with bright yellow stripes and reddish-brown spots. Reaching their peak bloom from mid- to late July, around 3,000 of these plants flower all at once. Walking through the sun-dappled woods, visitors are enchanted by the sweet, elegant fragrance that fills the air.
While there are several scenic areas throughout the park, the "Yamayuri Path," where the dense clusters of lilies are most concentrated, is an especially wonderful spot for a stroll. It offers a delightful experience for all the senses, allowing you to fully appreciate the impressive, graceful beauty of the Yamayuri flourishing in their natural woodland environment alongside their lovely scent.

I absolutely love *Yamayuri* (mountain lilies)!
The ones in the first and third photos are particularly special—they are rare specimens known as the "lipstick" variety.
You can see a special subtle reddish tint at the tips of the yellow center stripes on the petals.
That shift in color is simply captivating.
コメントありがとうございます。リップスティック品種... 珍しい個体だとは知らずに撮っていました。勉強になりました。
DeleteThank you very much for your comment. I had no idea that this Lipstick variety was such a rare specimen when I took the photo. It was very informative, and I learned something new. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
