Kawazu-zakura is an early-blooming type of cherry blossom discovered in 1955 in Kawazu Town, Shizuoka. Its large, deep pink flowers and long blooming season make it especially beloved. Since it usually begins to bloom in early February and lasts until early March, people all over Japan think of it as a sign that spring is arriving a little ahead of schedule.

The Kawazu-zakura I posted this time were taken along a roadside in Odaiba. I haven’t photographed this type of cherry blossom very often, so at first I wasn’t sure how to capture its rich pink color. But once I started shooting, I found the experience really enjoyable.

There’s a Starbucks in Rancho Palos Verdes (Los Angeles, CA) that I will never forget. Nestled right in front of the vast Pacific Ocean, it offers a breathtaking view that makes every sip of coffee feel like a moment of peace.  What made it truly special were the evenings—watching the sun slowly sink into the horizon, painting the ocean in shades of crimson and gold. I remember sitting there, completely immersed in the beauty, feeling time gently slow down. It’s been nearly twenty years since that visit, but the memory remains vivid in my heart. Truth be told, I’m a devoted cat lover. Even now, a Persian cat graces our home with quiet companionship. But today, I’d like to share the story of a Norwegian Forest Cat who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in the summer of 2015—a soul so dear, our family will carry her memory for a lifetime. Back when we lived in Los Angeles, a stray cat named Sammy wandered into our lives and became our beloved “lodger cat(イソウロウねこ).” Around that time, Olympus had a photo-sharing site called Fotopus, where I posted countless pictures of Sammy under the title The Lodger Cat (イソウロウねこ) , using the nickname Dararin Darling(だらりんダーリン).
