19th Nov 2022: Tokyo Skytree

Image
I had never visited the Tokyo Skytree before, so I went there with my family. Rising to a height of 634 meters, the Skytree is the tallest freestanding broadcasting tower in the world and has served as a new symbol of Tokyo since its opening in 2012. It is also a highly popular tourist destination, offering magnificent panoramic views of the entire Kanto region from its observation decks. Situated in Oshiage, Sumida Ward, the Tokyo Skytree was built to ensure stable transmission of terrestrial digital broadcasting. Its height of 634 meters was deliberately chosen as a play on words referencing the old provincial name “Musashi,” thereby embedding a cultural connection within its design. Completed in February 2012 and opened to the public in May of the same year, it has since become a landmark of Tokyo, attracting countless visitors from both Japan and abroad. Inside the tower, visitors can enjoy the “Tembo Deck” at 350 meters above ground, as well as the “Tembo Galleria” at 450 meters, ...

7th July 2022: Windsor Castle in the UK

Image
Windsor Castle, situated approximately 35 kilometers west of London, is among the largest inhabited castles in the world. Its origins trace back to the 11th century, when William I established it as a fortress, and successive monarchs expanded and transformed it into a magnificent palace. St George’s Chapel, the spiritual home of the  Order of the Garter, has long hosted royal ceremonies and weddings, most notably the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in recent years.  Following a major fire in 1992, the castle was carefully restored, and it continues to serve both as a royal residence and as a venue for official events and tourism.  When the Royal Standard is flown above the Round Tower, it signifies that the monarch is in residence. With a history spanning nearly a millennium,  Windsor Castle endures as a living symbol of the British monarchy.
